Trailer Towing Training

The Test
The B+E Test is based on  the LGV driving test and lasts approximately one hour and is conducted from the new Haverfordwest (Withybush) Test Facility. It will include a wide variety of roads and  traffic conditions.Make sure that you have your full driving licence (both parts ie. card and paper version) with provisional B+E entitlement with you and  that you have signed it.

The test consists of the  following requirements:

  • The ability to carry out  safety checks on vehicle and trailer
  • The Reversing Exercise (snake reverse into a bay)
  • The Braking Exercise
  • The Drive (approximately  80% of test)
  • Uncoupling and coupling

Our courses will  comprehensively cover the syllabus of the test to enable you, with endevour, to  pass. Most candidates fail on the driving part of the test in which you will be  expected to drive to a standard at least that of the driving test for category  B. Unfortunately most people fall into bad habits after passing their driving  test which is why we only use DSA approved driving instructors to get you back  up to test standard..Your test will be booked for you and costs £115 *Note:4  clear working days notice required on event of cancellation

Can I use my own  vehicle/trailer?

Yes but make sure  vehicle is fully covered by insurance to cover a learner driver and  instructor/examiner

  • is legally roadworthy  and has a current MOT if over 3 years old
  •
  • properly licensed with  a valid tax disc
  •
  • displaying L or D  plates to front of vehicle and rear of trailer
  •
  • vehicle must be fitted with adequate mirrors so that the examiner can see clearly down both sides of  the vehicle
  •
Make sure that the  trailer you intend to tow is

  • legally roadworthy
  •
  • is at least 1 tonne  Maximum Authorised Mass  (MAM)
  •
Note: If you overlook  any of these  your test will be cancelled  and you will lose your fee

If you wish to use your  own vehicle/trailer bearing in mind the above dont hesitate to contact us. If  however you want peace of mind why not use out training vehicle, the Land Rover and Ifor Williams box trailer which both fully satisfy the  requirements for the test
